I light a candle

“There is a candle in your heart, ready to be kindled.
There is a void in your soul, ready to be filled.
You feel it, don’t you?”
― Mawlana Jalal-al-Din Rumi

angel with candle

I Light a candle in remembrance of you.
I never thought
make it through,
but your magnificence is the air I breathe,
a tangible presence
in faith believed.
I’ve seen the signs,
held your hand,
scattered my dreams on desolate lands.
The breath of God sustains my being,
in movements of grace,
I’ve seen the unseen.

I’m the one…

stevie and rev in the snow

I’m the one who knew the lines,
kept secrets,
read the signs.
I’m the one who held you close,
knew the silence
of hidden oaths.
I’m the one who loved you more,
more than life
at its eternal core.
I’m the one who kissed goodnight,
slew the monster,
fought the fight.
I’m the one who bore your pain,
absorbed the resonance
of love contained.
I’m the one who saw your fears,
held my breath,
dried your tears
I’m the one who nurtured your youth,
believed your dreams,
stood for truth!
I’m the one who scattered your form,
blessed your substance
through ghastly storms.
I’m the one who will always be,
your upholder
for eternity.
I’m the one who sleeps at night,
prays you visit,
just to hold you tight.
I’m the one who sees your face,
in the ether,
where you left a trace.
I’m the one who knows you’re there,
watching over me,
I’m the one who exhumed my heart,
just to remind me
that we’re never apart.

You’re the one who will always be…engraved forever on my memory…

Bravely glowing

“And when we come to search for God, Let us first be robed in night, Put on the mind of morning To feel the rush of light Spread slowly inside The color and stillness Of a found world.”
― John O’Donohue, To Bless the Space Between Us: A Book of Invocations and Blessings

particles of light

Besieged by memories and images of woe,
I let them move
and I watch them flow…

In moments of terror,
when life is opaque,
in death’s dark valley…my emotions quake.

Many moons of sorrow, of locust swarms,
untold suffering
harbingers warned,
the scattering of beings
into translucent dust
where radiance gathers and substance combusts.

Beyond foreboding
across gossamer veils
illuminated guides
on coherent trails,
where particles hover
and faith ignites
they bravely glow,
in relationship with light…

Old Fashioned

mari's emporium

Old fashioned vibes down country lanes,
Mari’s Emporium,
she can explain.
Frocks for dances and weddings too,
the swinging sixties,
just wait in the queue!

Back to the old days
when fabric was cheap
one of a kind garments
always unique.
Tailored for your pleasure
in any style,
something casual
or perhaps versatile?
Gone are the days when we designed our own,
unstitch the hem
when we had outgrown.

I remember Gran pinning lace to her dress,
it was her secret
later confessed,
restyling clothes,
that had gone out of fashion
dressed to the nines,
she looked rather smashing…

Happy Thanksgiving

“If you only say one prayer in a day, let it be thank you!”
― Jalal Ad-Din Rumi

My sister sent me this lovely card from the East Coast of England.
Artwork by Cyndi Speergratitude.jpgI’m thankful for the sunshine
that greets my day,
thankful for flowers
frolicking on the way.

Birds remind me of the harmony of souls,
trees throw down kisses,
and the dark earth consoles.

The moon smiles, each time I look out,
and stars twinkle
from heavens devout.

I’m thankful for humans
who hold up their light,
thankful for kind words
that get me through the night.

On pathways of sorrow when I’m lost in the dark,
there’s never a moment when I can’t see a spark.

I look into the light
and I see a soft glow,
in particles of presence,
grace is bestowed.

The oceans may thunder,
and tempests may roar,
but even in stillness
bright seabirds soar.

Filled to the brim
with the lightness of being,
on the cusp of glory,
enlivened by the feeling,
of love
and mercy Divine
in the temple of my body
where radiance shines…

Shadow dancers…

“Behind your image, below your words, above your thoughts, the silence of another world waits.”
― John O’Donohue, Anam Cara: A Book of Celtic Wisdom

shadow dancers 2

Shadow dancers
on the shore,
flowing with Earth’s encore,
gliding over silvery sands,
wanderers in a graceful expanse,
nimbly stepping
ocean mists,
keeping watch
while the tides shift,
seeing beyond this mortal coil,
beyond chaos,
beyond turmoil!

Peering into mystical realms,
above the breakers,
past the swells.
Where darkness
gives way to light,
and every Earthling

“Oh soul, you worry too much. Your arms are heavy with treasures of all kinds.”― Rumi

Cerise vygies caught my eye,
just a stranger passing by,
falling for their dreamy hues,
could this be my current muse?
On my knees again,
in the sand,
I held this treasure in my hands…
