Flower-child

She couldn’t see colour
everything seemed black and white,
she felt the fakeness
of an unimaginative life…
Under the bright lights
she appeared
uninteresting,
the depths of radiance
had drained
from her skin…
The shopaholics around her
envied her pose,
the blushing aspects
of her fine clothes…
only the flowers
on her dress
made her feel alive,
the wonderment of nature
was more her style…
Though they say
“fine feathers make fine birds”
she felt out of place
in this fabricated world…

Dreamer

She lives her life
for her children
so that they can
go to school,
empty bins
and sweeping floors
some may think it’s uncool…
but tirelessly she slogs away
her hard work means
so much,
she smiles as we drink
our coffee
and eat our pie for lunch…
I’m honored to have
seen her,
a true working-girl,
never faltering
for a moment
she’s the salt of the earth!

Dreamy

Meet me where
the river flows,
we can watch the tide
when it’s really low
and ride our bikes
until the sun-sets,
see the colours
of our happiness…
I promise to hum
as you go by,
dream dreams
under hazy skies…
Let’s escape the grip
of these wintery blues,
I’ll be your girl,
will you be my muse?
