An ordinary life?

“I used to dream about escaping my ordinary life,
but my life was never ordinary.
I had simply failed to notice how extraordinary it was.”
― Ransom Riggs, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children

It’s just an ordinary life…
we’re adorned with the fragrance of flowers
kissed by the light of the stars
serenaded by bird-song
shaded by tall trees
and spoken of by the winds…

we spice it up with color
though it fades into black and white
when we can’t find beauty in the moment
or love in every person…

so we seek monochrome patterns
the unbroken lines
brimming with expectation
smudged by grey mediocrity…

Look again
and see illuminations of light
emanating from the core
shadows dancing
and bringing definition
to our ordinary life…

we find love and kindness
and sprinklings of joy
in the simplicity of a quotidian life…

and therein we discover the extraordinary.
