Shooting star

“You are damaged and broken and unhinged. But so are shooting stars and comets.”
― Nikita Gill

shooting star 2
she was born inside the cosmic sea
with angelic host for company
and light beams played in the air
abundance flowed everywhere

in luminous temples where she knelt,
her affinity with miracles dwelt
love songs whispered on the breeze
in dulcet tones of imagery

the time came to leave this shrine
joy and sorrow were entwined
to fall to earth where mortals play
her inferno was a bright array

so when you see a shooting star
just make a wish where you are
and remember, each being is known to fall
that heavenly fragments may be recalled

Spring Fever

“It is spring again. The earth is like a child that knows poems by heart.”
― Rainer Maria Rilke

spring feverNew life breathes
fragrant blossoms abound.
skies alive
with melody,
all the earth resounds.
Rhapsodies in the air,
jasmine imbues the breeze.
Verdant fields swirl and dance,
and light caresses trees.
Decorations of loveliness,
hearts infused with hope.
long dark nights,
faint memories,
daisies on the slopes.
Doves are flitting all about,
filling nests with twigs.
bright-eyed new arrivals,
waiting to test
their wings.
Promised walks on the beach,
gazing at the cerulean sky.
Forests beckon
with cool calm breath,
streams in abundant supply.
When sunlight creeps
through the window
and my feet touch the floor,
songbirds tweet excitedly
and summon me out of doors.

in dead of night

“A further sign of health is that we don’t become undone by fear and trembling, but we take it as a message that it’s time to stop struggling and look directly at what’s threatening us. ”
― Pema ChödrönThe Places that Scare You

in dead of night,
thoughts like parasites
infestations of gloom

dread ignites
in repugnant blight
declarations of doom

angst in flight
i won’t recite
some memories are exhumed

no need to fight
or to be polite
or even presume

fears chide despite
my inner fright
delirium in the room

confront their sight
in pale moonlight
of awareness consume

when morning’s bright
new mercies overwrite
lucidity blooms

in graceful light
forgotten plight
exuberance resumes

Paradigm Shift

“Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.”
― Wayne W. Dyer

paradigm shift

Pink crystals
of sunlight,
purple beams in the sky.
Moments of euphoric
feeling so high!
of wonder,
silver pathways to tread
ethereal visions,
reciting the unread!
Exposed in limbo,
dimensions of time.
Free falling
from static,
shifting the paradigm!
In an instant of
an illusory self.
Reinventing the blueprint,
to transmute
the cells.
from previous notions,
of being called out.
in aspects devout.
Within glowing embers
of specious dreams,
a life force
beyond the smoke screens.
A blazing re-entry ,
being scorched
to the core.
Found in the sanctuary,
where order
is restored!

In all chaos there is a cosmos,
in all disorder a secret order.
― C.G. Jung

allysoally 2

acceptance of nakedness
revelations of being
surrendering to the elements
peace with what’s unseen
we are lights in a Universe
imbued with disorder
sojourners of wretchedness
fragments moving  forward
separated from the essence
we lose sight of our souls
a need for sacred mercies
that forge us to be whole
when darkness is all around us
we are confined by despair
shadows hide the hollowness
of desperation’s prayers
though when we acquiesce
onto the jagged path of life
existence is consecrated
and foundations realign

Dogs have owners, Cats have staff!

The cat got sick
and hid from me,
I found her concealed
beneath a tree.
She glared at me
as if to blame,
did I curse her,
what a shame!
She had a grudge,
cause I shut her out,
and I’d only gone on a
To this day I can’t
read her moods,
sometimes she sits
and gloomily broods.
I try to cuddle her
when she’s ill,
then she refuses
to take her pills!
But some days
when the sun is shining,
she runs to me,
comes out of hiding.
I really don’t know
what to say,
she had a career
as a runaway.
At times she
stays out all night,
I lie awake,
and get uptight!
Maybe I should
have stuck to dogs,
I wouldn’t have to
confer with frogs,
or step on lizards
on the floor,
or keep opening
the front door!
I wonder when
my contract expires,
when she’s had enough
will I get fired?

“Someone I loved once gave me a box full of darkness.
It took me years to understand that this too, was a gift.”
― Mary Oliver

life can be hard
but full of miracles
sometimes colorless
though often lyrical

forests breathe
to keep us alive
the moon orbits
and does not collide

in the darkness
sometimes unawares
celestial beings
tenderly care

doubt lingers in
unanswered prayers
sorrow is treasured
with every tear

disturbance pulls us
back to the center
guiding us towards
deeper surrender

unknowable bounty
in the turmoil of life
invisible grace that is
secretly applied

stories recounted on
cold and joyless nights
turn into compassion
with profound insights

Wider Spaces

In all beginnings dwells a magic force
for guarding us and helping us live.
Serenely let us move to distant places
and let no sentiments of home detain us.
The Cosmic Spirit seeks not to restrain us
but lifts us stage by stage to wider spaces.
-Herman Hesse, from Master Ludi

wider spaces

I stared out
at the Cosmos,
and felt my spirit move.
Waiting in the wings too long,
what was I trying to prove?
“I am enough”
a small voice said
echoed in tones of grace.
Guided by light and love,
I entered
Holy gates.
The canopy of stars above
were diamonds
in the sky.
“Can memories of childhood change
in the twinkling
of an eye?”

Little ones
were kneeling,
on the banks of time.
Gathered in ageless huddles,
with no reason or rhyme.

I was taken to the outer reaches,
where imprisoned souls dwell
Swept by toxic fumes,
self condemnation
had me in its spell.
Then I saw,
that I was made for good,
in the depths of the earth.
Known long before its foundation,
beyond my earthen birth.
As I plunged into the abyss,
scales fell from my eyes,
and the husk disintegrated,
throughout my disguise.
A death of attachments,
that were chained
to my heart.
In tearful surrender,
I knew that
I’d been set apart.
In light and love,
I transcended
with grace guiding the way.
A journey to the center,
where images are as clear as day..
