Posted in NaPoWriMo...30 poems in 30 days!

Day 4. This photo made me think of my son Stevie,
he loved superman and when he was about five years old,
we went to an old movie theatre and superman died…
Oh how my Stevie cried and cried. He almost brought the house down.
Now we cry because we don’t know if we will ever be able to go
to the movies again because of the pandemic!

He dreamed there
of fantasies
and strength
of overcoming death

He dreamed there
now everyone’s gone home
and the theatre stands alone

He dreamed there
of a life of being brave
where everyone was saved

Now the crowd has dispersed
and the place looks like it’s cursed

They may never return
to the glittering lights
it’s a roll of the dice

The virus shut the doors
like the fate of dinosaurs
The authorities have decreed
and now it’s gone to seed

He still dreams there
in another existence
superman in all his brilliance
written in the stars
he came alive on mars

Let’s reinvent our lives
in the imagination of a child!

I am an unknown introvert who desires to touch the world with a little bit of magic...
