The unsaid…

“The breezes at dawn have secrets to tell you
Don’t go back to sleep!”― Rumi

Some things remain unsaid
but words have resonance,
they echo in heart chambers,
they wake us before dawn
and desire articulation…

the pain needs to be exsanguinated
however deadly it may seem!

there’s a brutal truth that lies deep
in the bosom of heartache
it festers
if left
it longs to be known
to be expunged
from its self-made gallows…

and yet there’s fear
in this witches’ brew
this potion
this spell of deceit
that grew up in us…

How do we untangle the words and let them come forth without lacerating ourselves and others in the process?…

Monday blues…

“Blessed be the longing that brought you here
And quickens your soul with wonder.”
― John O’Donohue, To Bless the Space Between Us: A Book of Blessings

blue monday

The distant mountains
carved out blues,
reflections of
my constant muse…
I waded down
to the water’s edge
and from the banks
the herons pledged
to teach me
to glide
with the ebb and flow…
to be unruffled
in times of woe…

In the everglades
hidden away,
I unearthed an anointing of this day…

Grand displays…

“Stop acting so small. You are the universe in ecstatic motion.”
― Rumi

grand displays

the gravity of being
weighed me down,
my soul’s density
had run aground…

So I strolled
through gentle mists,
in the translucence
of nature’s gifts…

on muddy pathways
dew assembled,
and I found sanctity
in leafy temples…

where crystals dance
in hallowed fields
and creation
radiantly yields…
to gatherings,
of open praise
holding light in grand displays…

Catching sunlight…

“You cannot be the light and hold another in darkness.”
― Paul Selig

delicate anteneas

Fragile antennas
in the breeze,
catching the sunlight
with meticulous ease… Receivers tuned in
to a mystical show,
they bedazzle the sidewalks
in blushing rows…

located in strategic positions,
they are wired to acquire sacred transmissions…

Keep the light on…

“We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.”
― George Orwell

No entry

Deserted beaches,
silent halls,
moods translated
by talking walls…

overcrowded messages
are caught on zoom,
while protestations
wordlessly fume…

Wishes float into thin air,
skeptics chafe
on garbled prayers…

Outdoor dreaming
is all but shut,
folksy monotones
are in a rut…

Muted citizens
while hungry queuers digest dismay…

baited breath
of the unsaid,
lies are truth,
and truth is dead…

On the other side of this dystopian state,
is a unity of consciousness we must create…

Consulting flowers…

“it is a serious thing just to be alive on this fresh morning in this broken world.”
― Mary Oliver

Words get said,
rumors leak,
I’m so tired
of double-speak…
can we trust
this state of mind,
when the truth
is so hard to find?
I’d much rather
consult the flowers,
be enthralled
by their superpowers…
let sunlight filter
through my lens,
while I unfollow popular trends…

a fleeting escape…

autumns gaze

There’s a glint
in the crispness
of autumn leaves,
a tantalizing feeling
as bright tones ease…
a crunch on the pavement
that breaks my stride,
a flickering
of particles
when light collides…

And the sun dips lower
in diaphanous skies,
I stand on the precipice
and I’m mesmerized,
by the muted gaze
of these troubled times,
a fleeting escape
from being confined…
