“When you are standing in that forest of sorrow, you cannot imagine that you could ever find your way to a better place. But if someone can assure you that they themselves have stood in that same place, and now have moved on, sometimes this will bring hope”
― Elizabeth Gilbert, Eat, Pray, Love
I was left behind
in foreboding woods,
enquiring of dreams
in eerie hoods…
Feeling pain deep in my being,
the somber resonance of the unseen.
In the wilds of heartache, darkness compels
in times of gatherings,
of secret spells…
Trampled down by condescending tongues
the voices turned into a distant hum…
And I found a clearing in the trees
and prayed until my sorrow eased…
the suffering of undaunted souls, on grounds of courage where death arose…
In conscious thought
in memories,
our lives assuaged by testimonies…
of broken souls
made wise by grief,
sages who speak of mystical beliefs…
