The stars are quiet…

“It’s no use going back to yesterday because I was a different person then.”
― Lewis Carroll
borogroves

I’m taking
deep breaths
pausing in silence
searching for borogoves
with peculiar guidance…
I’m hidden in the undergrowth
breaking daylight
as I go,
hoping darkness will ignite
my standing in staccato… And I’ll sow
and tread
and break this fast
before daylight rises,
and it’s all
of everything
I dread
when the stars are quiet…

Love…

“The most telling and profound way of describing the evolution of the universe would undoubtedly be to trace the evolution of love.”
― Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

love

Should I speak of love

and its delectable parts
how it crashes in
overwhelms the heart? ♡
how it softly whispers
in liquid streams,
casts its breath,
it intervenes…
Pours out like unrelenting tides
unveils the radiance
of humankind…

Things I say in the dark…

“Your body is woven from the light of heaven. Are you aware that its purity and swiftness it the envy of angels and its courage keeps devils away”
― Rumi

stars

Did the Angels know
you’d fallen,
did they see you transcend?
When the earth
was still
that moment,
did you know it was the end?
Did the pain
fall silently,
did you watch
it dissipate?
And tell me,
when you flew to heaven,
did the stars scintillate?

Throwback Thursday…

Happy Birthday Dad…

my fatherMy father loved whiskey,
and oysters in their shell.
He didn’t believe in heaven,
or even in hell…
He had a sense of humor
and loved sci-fi
and when he was drunk,
his voice amplified!
He was born in Umvuma; in the back of beyond
and at times his commentaries
were seriously prolonged…..
He could overhaul washing machines
and spent hours fixing cars,
he loved to socialize
and smoked Cuban cigars…
When he joined the golf club, my mother just sighed
he loved to hold up the bar,
with the other guys!!

Can words heal?

“Drink your tea slowly and reverently, as if it is the axis on which the world earth revolves – slowly, evenly, without rushing toward the future.”
― Thich Nhat Hanh

zeb drinking tea

Can words heal,
do they reveal light,
have you glimpsed infinity on sleepless nights?

Will you promise to go out
and watch the stars,
and quietly appreciate how breathtaking you are?

Will you spend your days
worshiping the sun,
smelling fragrant flowers, till each day is done?

Do you promise to believe that you belong
to a benevolent universe
and join the throng
of lovers,
believers,
conveyers of light!
and sing with them “I will feel all right”…

Will, you promise to relish your tea each day,
drink in the sights
go to cabarets?…

and know that deep within your soul
you’re not alone
and be consoled
by celestial beings
that guide your way,
bring back the radiance that has turned to gray!….
