“Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in.”
Leonard Cohen

darkness scatters

I felt like I’m drowning,
in seas of despair,
calling incoherently,
asking for God to be near!

In pitch black
I sink beneath the waves,
light on mercy’s shore,
through the haze.

Broken pieces are scattered,
in cosmic seas,
waves crash harder,
drowning out my pleas!

I want to just wallow,
wallow in this pain,
with no light
or refuge,
till I’m found
in You again!

The wound is where
the light gets in;
I feel this affliction on my skin……

I am an unknown introvert who desires to touch the world with a little bit of magic...

  1. Love this. The Leonard Cohen poem is one of my favorites, and I saw your reference to Jason Gray’s “The Wound is Where the Light Gets In.” (or maybe it’s not and you and Jason Gray just have the same beautiful thought!) Praying it gets on in quickly and heals and lightens not just the dark, but the load. Thanks so much for sharing.
