Gentle Light

“May the nourishment of the earth be yours,
may the clarity of light be yours,
may the fluency of the ocean be yours,
may the protection of the ancestors be yours.
And so may a slow
wind work these words
of love around you,
an invisible cloak
to mind your life.”
― John O’DonohueAnam Cara: A Book of Celtic Wisdom

In the gentle light of Autumn,
on a clement afternoon,
I unravel secret oaths,
as I gaze towards the dunes.
Shells of enduring promise,
bask on the sands,
some scattered, some broken,
they make no demands.

The rumble of the ocean,
dulls the ache within,
ubiquitous memories,
softly stroke my skin.
I feel connected,
on the shores of this great expanse,
even the ground beneath me,
seems to understand.

I am an unknown introvert who desires to touch the world with a little bit of magic...

  1. I have been on that beach and from this distance, it draws me and I wonder how, when I see it again, it will draw me still. The countless footprints washed away by eons of tides, I can’t wait to return and have my print in that sand.
